Grabill leads Rancho Bernardo teams in Relay contest

The first annual Cougar-Wildcat 6 mile relay, sponsored by Cal State San Marcos and El Camino HS (Oceanside), featuring four athletes over a 1.5 mile campus course, seemed like a first year hit with some fine teams showing up in the North County.
The Division I and Division II Girls varsity events were taken by Rancho Bernardo (36:48) and Coronado (36:41), with Coronado particularly impressive without sub 5:20 1600 stars Sally Privett and Annie Lovering, their 1-2 finishers in last year’s Section meet, who were elsewhere this morning. Rancho Bernardo had Molly Grabill, rated #13 in the US as an individual by DyeStat.com, blast a 7:58 leg according to her school, just under 5:20 mile pace for the distance that should warm her up for some bigger efforts in the next couple of months. Grabill’s division ran at noon, with local temperatures in the low 90's.
The Rancho Bernardo Boys took the Division I contest at 30:18, with Anthony Girolamo (7:46), Kevin Mihalik (7:44), Geoff Bogan (7:20), and Noah Resto (7:28) handling the four segments. Cathedral Catholic took the Boys Division II contest at 32:49.
